This year’s Pride celebrations will run for the month of June with lots of virtual events taking place at home and abroad (Pride) MIBI marked the event on Friday 11 June with a colourful virtual shout out for Pride 2021. (See photo below).
Although Pride Month is about rainbows and dressing up as a sign of solidarity and celebration, the more serious side of Pride provides us with an opportunity to reflect on societies attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ community. It gives us pause to consider both our conscious and unconscious bias in this respect and how we might better embrace diversity at home and in the workplace.
As part of MIBI’s Strategy in 2021, we established a Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Steering Committee. The D&I Committee held a companywide half-day masterclass training on D&I at the end of May and are currently working alongside the Irish Centre for Diversity towards achieving our Bronze D&I Certification in their ‘Investors in Diversity – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Mark’. At MIBI we want our people to feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work without fear of judgement, bias, or recrimination.
