Celebrating International Women’s Day at MIBI
The 8th of March is International Women’s Day (IWD) and this year MIBI’s Diversity and Inclusion, and Engagement Committees were delighted to welcome guest speaker Catherine Hanley. Catherine is Chief Claims Officer at RSA Insurance and 123.ie, and Vice Chair of the MIBI Board. Catherine gave a thought provoking presentation on her own career journey through the insurance industry, some impressive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives in train in RSA Insurance and 123.ie, and reflected on how employers can champion women in the workplace. A key message that resonated with the team was the importance of having mentors to initiate development conversations, that empower women to put themselves forward for leadership opportunties.
IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. #EmbraceEquity is the theme for 2023. The aim of the IWD is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
